Columbia, Mo. – This afternoon the NAIA national office announced its fourth regular season NAIA Division I Men's Basketball Coaches' Top 25 Poll. The Cougars, who were ranked third in the previous poll, moved down two spots to fifth after going 3-1 in their previous four games with their only loss coming to Harris-Stowe (Mo.) State University in a closely contested 88-83 loss.
Columbia College has been dominant all season long and currently sits at 21-2 on the season and 14-1 in conference play. They rank in the top 10 nationally in several categories including fourth in 3-pt field goal percentage (0.413), sixth in scoring defense per game (64.435), seventh in total blocks (89), seventh in scoring margin (18.217), seventh in free throw percentage (0.747), and eighth in total scoring offense (1,901).
The Cougars have had several contributors on both sides of the ball this season including
Nic Reynolds who is currently leading the team in scoring average per game (13.65) while shooting nearly 45 percent from the field. In addition to Reynolds,
Malik Ray is leading the team in rebounds (6.83) and blocks (1.91) per game. The 6-7 senior out of St. Louis, Missouri, ranks sixth in the NAIA in total blocks (44), 10
th in blocks per game (1.91), and 28
th in total rebounds (157).
Columbia College is back in action on Thursday, February 2
nd when they host Lindenwood University-Belleville in the AMC Game of the Week. In their last matchup, the Cougars defeated the Lynx by a final score of 92-81 behind Jackson Dubinksi who led the team with 17 points. The game is set to tip-off at 7:30 p.m.
