Columbia, Mo. – This afternoon the NAIA national office announced the third Division I Men's Basketball Coaches' Top 25 Poll of the regular season. The Cougars, who ranked seventh in the last poll, moved up two spots to fifth after going 4-0 since the last poll was released including a 69-57 victory over the 17th ranked Missouri Baptist University Spartans on Saturday.
Columbia College is currently 18-1 on the season and hold a two game lead in the conference with a 10-1 mark in the AMC. As a team, they rank eighth nationally in both total 3-point field goals made (177) and 3-point field goal percentage (0.405) while ranking in the top 15 in total scoring offense (1,643), field goal percentage defense (0.406), scoring margin (17.526), turnover margin (3.789), scoring defense per game (68.947), and field goal percentage (0.498). In addition, they are averaging a conference best 86.47 points per game.
The Cougars have been lead all season long by seniors Nathan Biggs, Jackson Dubinski, Nic Reynolds, and Lucky Ogbomo. Biggs, a 6-6 forward out of Chesterfield, Missouri, leads the team in scoring (15.68) and has scored in double figures in each of the last 11 games. Dubinski, a 6-1 guard out of Columbia, Missouri, leads the team in steals (28) and assists (66). He currently sits at 348 career assists which is just 20 behind Coy Bryant for seventh all-time in Columbia College history. Reynolds, a 6-2 guard out of Peoria, Illinois, ranks second in the NAIA in free throw percentage (0.922) and is tied with Dubinski for second on the team in points averaging 12.9 per contest. Reynolds currently sits at 1,445 total points for his career which is good enough for sixth all-time on the Columbia College scoring list. Ogbomo, a 6-7 forward out of Nigeria, ranks 16th nationally and leads the team in total rebounding (154). He also leads the team with 11 blocks.
The Cougars are back in action on Thursday, January 18th when they travel to St. Louis, Missouri, to take on St. Louis College of Pharmacy (Mo.) in an AMC matchup. The game is set to start at 7:30 p.m.
